Metafields

A metafield is an extra field you add to a product, a variant, a customer or a company: a lead time, a data sheet, a list of photos. The theme reads a few of them. You add the field once (a "definition"), then fill it in on each product or company.

Add a definition

  1. In Shopify admin, open Settings › Custom data.
  2. Choose what it belongs to (Products, Variants, Customers or Companies), then Add definition.
  3. Type the namespace and key exactly as in the table below (for example b2b.lead_time), and pick the type.
  4. Save. The field now appears at the bottom of every product (or company) in admin.

What the theme reads

Product b2b.documents File, or list of files Downloads on the product page
Product b2b.ugc_media List of files Photos and videos in the "Customer photos" section
Product b2b.ugc_credits List of single line text A credit under each of those, same order
Product b2b.material, b2b.weight, b2b.dimensions, b2b.warranty, b2b.country_of_origin … Single line text Rows of the specifications table
Variant b2b.units_per_case Integer The price per unit under a pack price

Customer b2b.vat_id Single line text The VAT ID on the account page

The specifications table also reads the same keys under the specifications, product_specs and global namespaces, so data imported from another theme keeps working.
